Workshop Description

Join Ty for a focused Inversions Workshop designed to help you build the strength, alignment and confidence needed to take your practice upside down.

In this extended session we’ll explore the foundations of Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Balance) and Handstand, breaking them down step by step so you can better understand how these poses actually work. You’ll learn how to use the wall effectively, how to enter the poses safely, and how to develop the strength and control needed to eventually balance away from the wall.

Throughout the workshop you’ll work through a series of practical drills that develop shoulder stability, core strength and body awareness all essential ingredients for a confident inversion practice. There will be plenty of time to practise, receive individual guidance, and ask questions along the way.

We’ll also briefly explore supporting poses such as Vasisthasana (Side Plank) and foundational backbend and drop back work to help open the shoulders and build the stability required for inversions and back bends.

The session will finish with a longer flow that allows you to bring everything together and experiment with the techniques you’ve learned in a supportive and playful environment.

Whether you’re working towards your first solid inversion or looking to refine your balance and move away from the wall, this workshop will give you the tools, drills and confidence to keep progressing in your practice.

This workshop is suitable for yoga practitioners or anyone who is into movement or calisthenics who are curious about exploring inversions.

You might benefit from this workshop if you:

  • Are working towards your first stable Pincha or Handstand
  • Can get upside down but rely heavily on the wall for support
  • Want to develop the confidence to balance away from the wall
  • Are looking to improve strength, control and technique in your inversion practice?

Options and progressions will be provided so both beginners to inversions and more experienced practitioners can work at a level that feels appropriate for them. You will also learn lots of drills and finally understand the balance of being upside down.
